{"id":13,"date":"2014-04-09T10:41:57","date_gmt":"2014-04-09T14:41:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unccfar.org\/?page_id=13"},"modified":"2023-12-12T13:41:16","modified_gmt":"2023-12-12T18:41:16","slug":"membership","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/membership\/","title":{"rendered":"Membership"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Eligibility for CFAR Membership<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1380\/2014\/04\/wohl_david_ncatec-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3052\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1380\/2014\/04\/wohl_david_ncatec-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1380\/2014\/04\/wohl_david_ncatec-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1380\/2014\/04\/wohl_david_ncatec-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1380\/2014\/04\/wohl_david_ncatec-600x399.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1380\/2014\/04\/wohl_david_ncatec.jpg 1419w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>To be eligible to become a full member of the CFAR there are two requirements:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You must have an interest in HIV\/AIDS-related research (very broadly defined).<\/li>\n<li>Your professional position at one of our three collaboration institutions (UNC-CH, FHI, RTI) is such that you are allowed to be a principal investigator on an externally funded research effort.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>People who do not fulfill the second criterion can become associate members and will be notified of all CFAR-related events and encouraged to participate.<\/p>\n<p>The process of becoming a member is simple: Please fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/membership\/membership-registration\/\">Membership Application<\/a>. <\/p>\n<h2>Types of Members<\/h2>\n<p>To reflect the mission of the Centers for AIDS Research, the UNC CFAR has two types of members \u2013 full member and associate member.<\/p>\n<h3>Full Member:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>UNC Chapel Hill faculty, who have a demonstrated record of HIV\/AIDS research including HIV\/AIDS-relevant publications and research funding, are eligible to be full CFAR members.<\/li>\n<li>UNC Chapel Hill faculty who are interested in exploring, or expanding their research to include HIV\/AIDS, and have the professional capacity to receive independent funding are eligible to be full CFAR members.<\/li>\n<li>Faculty-level individuals from our consortium partners, FHI 360 and Research Triangle Institute (RTI) who have obtained independent research funding, are also eligible to be full CFAR members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Associate Member:<\/h3>\n<p>Faculty and staff, including clinicians and health-care professionals, who have an interest and involvement in basic research, clinical research, prevention and control, education or dissemination but do not have specific HIV\/AIDS-related research projects or do not have the peer-reviewed funding necessary to be a full member in the CFAR, can become associate members.<\/p>\n<p>Associate members may come from the University, organizations in the Research Triangle and any place where UNC CFAR has collaborations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Publications are strongly encouraged but not required.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>How to Apply<\/h2>\n<p>Please fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/membership\/membership-registration\/\">Membership Application<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You will be contacted if there are questions or problems concerning your application form.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eligibility for CFAR Membership To be eligible to become a full member of the CFAR there are two requirements: You must have an interest in HIV\/AIDS-related research (very broadly defined).
