Requests should be limited to critical needs for which no other support is available and may focus on research or career development. Examples of eligible requests include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Travel or other expenses to facilitate work with non-local collaborators<\/li>\n<li>Support for targeted data analysis to strengthen an initial NIH application or resubmission<\/li>\n<li>Targeted auxiliary funding to CFAR Awardees to support open-source publication costs for ESI Developmental Award research<\/li>\n<li>Conference attendance costs or printing of posters for disseminating ESI Developmental Award research results<\/li>\n<li>Workshop attendance for methodology, mentoring, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Research assistant support for analyses to strengthen an ESI NIH funding application<\/li>\n<li>Other funding needs upon discussion with the Developmental Core<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>RFP SCHEDULE<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Rolling deadline<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>AWARD<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>One-time Award of up to $5,000<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>ELIGIBILITY<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>UNC CFAR ESIs and established investigators new to HIV<\/li>\n<li>Affiliated with the UNC CFAR<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>LIMITATIONS<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Due to requirements for NIH review, these microgrants <em><u>are not<\/u><\/em> intended to support the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ninds.nih.gov\/funding\/manage-your-award\/pre-award\/applications-foreign-components\"> foreign component<\/a> to CFAR-funded research<\/li>\n<li>additions or modifications to specific aims of currently funded research among <a href=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/policy-and-compliance\/policy-topics\/human-subjects\/policies-and-regulations\/vulnerable-populations\">NIH-defined vulnerable populations<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>APPLICATION<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Interested applicants are encouraged to\u00a0discuss the concept with <a href=\"mailto:apettif@email.unc.edu\">Audrey Pettifor<\/a> or <a href=\"mailto:cathy@unc.edu?subject=CFAR%20Dev%20Microgrant\">Cathy Emrick<\/a> prior to application<\/li>\n<li>Complete and <a href=\"https:\/\/unc.az1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_8euozW5rFf8M050\">submit the online application form<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Email any helpful supporting documentation (e.g., NIH summary statement, manuscript review, target RFA) to the <a href=\"mailto:cfar_rfp@med.unc.edu?subject=Dev%20Microgrant%20supporting%20documentation\">CFAR Developmental Core<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UNC CFAR Developmental Core is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity meant to address emergent research barriers and needs experienced by CFAR New and Early Stage Investigators (ESIs) and established investigators new to HIV.
