Scientific Working Groups capitalize on areas of excellence at our CFAR-affiliated institutions and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration among investigators who have not previously collaborated with each other, or within that area of scientific focus.<\/p>\n<p>The Scientific Working Group is charged with encouraging new collaborations, identifying high-risk\/high-impact studies, fostering submission of new proposals for peer-reviewed funding, and addressing knowledge gaps that cannot be addressed by standard funding mechanisms. The success of a Scientific Working Group is measured by the expansion of NIH-supported funding for the Group, and the establishment of successful collaborations within and between Groups.<\/p>\n<div class=\"box\">\n<h2>The Integrated Methods for Public health, Academic, and Collaborative Translation (IMPACT)<\/h2>\n<p>The IMPACT Scientific Working Group (SWG), formed in 2021, was born out of the knowledge that HIV does not stop at state borders, especially in the era of social media and on-line dating.<\/p>\n<a class=\"btn btn-primary btn-lg  oscitas-bootstrap-container\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/working-groups\/cue-hiv\/\">More Information<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"box\">\n<h2>AI in HIV Research (AIHR) RIG<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW64846493 BCX4\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64846493 BCX4\">The HIV and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Interest Group unites investigators across diverse AI disciplines to share <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64846493 BCX4\">cutting-edge<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64846493 BCX4\"> innovations, drive transformative scientific breakthroughs, and accelerate interdisciplinary scientific discoveries.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW64846493 BCX4\" data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<a class=\"btn btn-primary btn-lg  oscitas-bootstrap-container\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/working-groups\/ai-in-hiv-research-aihr-research-interest-group\/\">More Information<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"box\">\n<h2>Societal Attitudes and HIV RIG<\/h2>\n<p>The Societal Attitudes and HIV RIG is a group whose function is to facilitate collaboration among HIV investigators on topics related to stigma.<\/p>\n<a class=\"btn btn-primary btn-lg  oscitas-bootstrap-container\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/working-groups\/societalattitudesrig\/\">More Information<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"box\">\n<h2>TECHNOLOGY AND ENGAGEMENT (TECHENGAGE)<\/h2>\n<p>A group working to expand UNC HIV research with technology and engagement, and with a focus on junior investigators and those new to HIV research.<\/p>\n<a class=\"btn btn-primary btn-lg  oscitas-bootstrap-container\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/working-groups\/techengage\/\">More Information<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A scientific Working Group is defined as a specific area of scientific focus for a group of investigators who share common research interests and goals and participate in competitively funded research.
