{"id":17511,"date":"2024-04-29T15:31:42","date_gmt":"2024-04-29T19:31:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/?post_type=ud_entry&#038;p=17511"},"modified":"2025-10-21T14:10:30","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T18:10:30","slug":"suzanne-maman-phd","status":"publish","type":"ud_entry","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfar\/people\/suzanne-maman-phd\/","title":{"rendered":"Suzanne Maman, PhD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Suzanne Maman, a social scientist trained in public health, is a professor in the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sph.unc.edu\/hb\/health-behavior-home\/\">Department of Health Behavior<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and is associate dean for global health at the Gillings School. Dr. Maman serves as co-lead for the Master of Public Health (MPH) program\u2019s global health concentration, which she helped to develop. She also serves as UNC faculty director at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rotarypeacecenternc.org\/\">Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Her work on how violence increases women\u2019s risk for HIV infection, and how an HIV diagnosis may affect women\u2019s experiences with violence, has informed programs in Tanzania and South Africa. Maman&#8217;s work has also led to WHO guidance and clinical tools to support women during the HIV testing process.
