Using live-cell imaging and biosensor-based approaches\, she integrates bioanalytical chemistry\, quantitative imaging\, and molecular and cell biology to study how epithelial cells dynamically balance proliferation and arrest to maintain tissue homeostasis. \n

She is a cancer epidemiologist interested in modifiable risk factors in underserved populations\, with a focus on the association of infection and cancers. She has been PI of five grants from the NCI seeking to further our understanding of the diversity of the bacteria Helicobacter pylori\, and host response to infection\, and the association with gastrointestinal cancers. She is also involved in local initiatives to understand the prevalence of H. pylori in the community and to explore the opportunities for precision prevention of gastric cancer through targeted H. pylori eradication therapy.
