She has focused on basic and translational approaches and developed a large animal (porcine) model of esophageal injury and repair as well as novel 3D culture techniques for esophageal submucosal glands. He lab used these models to investigate mechanisms of repair, metaplasia, and neoplasia in the upper GI tract, and they are collaborating with Case Western on a new P01 focused on esophageal cancer interception. A recent P20 project studied disparities related to H pylori infection, gastric intestinal metaplasia, and gastric cancer.
