Dr. Lauren Brinkley-Rubinstein, UNC CHER Faculty, is a part of The COVID Prison Project, which tracks data and policy across the country to monitor COVID-19 in correctional facilities.
Justice-involved individuals in congregate living facilities are at a high risk of exposure to COVID-19. With the recent outbreaks in North Carolina and Ohio facilities, there is a demonstrated need to examine national prison data on COVID-19 testing, confirmed cases, and policies and procedures. Here we examine national and statewide data on prevalence rates in federal and state prisons.
