April 27, 2022 Gabrielle Harris, PhD, RN, CHER Postdoctoral Fellow, has been accepted into two training programs this summer, UNC School of Medicine Rising Star Program and UNC Summer Instiute on College Teaching. Read descriptions below to learn more about these programs.

UNC School of Medicine Rising Star Program

The main goal of the UNC School of Medicine Rising Star Program is to increase diversity among faculty members in the basic sciences, with a specific focus on groups historically minoritized in the basic sciences. This program provides training to postdoctoral fellows from these underrepresented groups to help them excel during the faculty interview process by exposing admitted fellows to the same components that they will experience during the faculty job interview process. This program will commence in Chapel Hill June 8-10. I will be a part of the inaugural cohort for this program.

UNC Summer Institute on College Teaching

The UNC Summer Institute on College Teaching is a five-day professional development experience occurring June 20-24 that provides instructors with effective strategies for improving student learning.
