Recently, Silent Sam, a memorial that celebrated Confederate soldiers and the ideals that they fought for, was toppled. While we wish the statue had been removed in a different manner, we are grateful for our leaders that recognize the importance of this symbol being brought down. Please see Dean Rimer’s comment for important context.
