Support Health Equity Research Week on Tar Heal Tuesday

November 28, 2023

Honor a Legacy, Share Health Equity Research

On Tuesday, November 28 the UNC Health Foundation will once again host Tar Heal Tuesday. This day celebrates how our UNC School of Medicine and UNC Health community can come together to show our support for life-saving research, world-class medical education and quality, compassionate care for all through giving.

At the Center for Health Equity Research (CHER), we focus on more than just research. Our programs and teams focus on community engagement, research evaluation and consistent, effective communications. We partner with communities and collaborators to design research approaches and interventions that identify, contextualize and address barriers to health. We do this work because everyone deserves the opportunity to live their healthiest life.

Equity is a core value of our center and was central to the work of the late Dr. Paul A. Godley. CHER honors Dr. Godley’s legacy by showcasing health equity research at Carolina. The Paul A. Godley Health Equity Research Week brings researchers at all levels from all areas together to share their work. Students, faculty, staff and community partners share insights, tools and results that demonstrate that we can make positive change, even when tackling difficult barriers.

We hope you’ll support us as we celebrate 10 years of rooting research in collaboration, innovation and equity, and as we continue to honor Dr. Godley’s legacy through Health Equity Research Week (HERW).

Drop by our table in The Pit on November 28 to say hi and get to know more about our center, values and programming.
