Pay It Forward, Move It Forward

Pay It Forward, Move It Forward, or “PIF-MIF,” is an initiative to “move forward” the research endeavors of UNC Department of Pediatrics faculty and fellows by connecting them with successful scientists at UNC and in the Research Triangle who are willing to “pay it forward” by providing advice and constructive criticism.

To participate

• Apply by sending your Specific Aims page for review to childrensresearch@med.unc.edu
• Allow 2 weeks for review; be sure to build this into your overall submission timeline for your proposal
• Review process
  • PIF-MIF committee members, senior advisors, NC TraCS personnel, Center for Faculty Excellence review are solicited for availability, expertise, and interest
  • Additional experts brought in, if needed (topic-dependent), who are identified by investigator submitting
  • Reviewer feedback from experts is provided in a chalk talk meeting with lunch, individual meetings, or via email depending upon time constraints
• Review of full proposals is available, upon request and time permitting

Program Outcomes

• Solidify investigator’s specific aims

Participating as a reviewer

• Up to monthly commitment for review and feedback
• Chalk talk attendance, held as needed up to monthly
• Participate or identify “readers” for proposal, if full proposal is available
