These awards are funded by the UNC Children\u2019s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/uncmedicine.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Medical Foundation<\/a><\/strong> through fundraising and philanthropic donations. This grant supports the development of pediatric researchers to advance child health. In alignment with this mission, this mechanism supports early career investigators who perform pediatric-related research in basic, translational, or clinical research, domestically or abroad.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s recipients are Christina Cruz, MD, EdM and Neal deJong, MD, MPH. Dr. Cruz&#8217;s proposal, &#8220;Minimum Human Resources Needed to Implement Task-shifted Children&#8217;s Mental Health Care by Teachers,&#8221; will be investigating ways to improve mental health in school-aged children in resource limited regions.
