{"id":10,"date":"2024-01-24T09:19:48","date_gmt":"2024-01-24T14:19:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cidd\/training-education\/"},"modified":"2024-12-20T18:09:20","modified_gmt":"2024-12-20T23:09:20","slug":"training-education","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cidd\/training-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Training &amp; Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities (CIDD) is home to three core federal programs, all of which support capacity building in the intellectual and developmental disabilities field through training and education.<\/p>\n<p>The National Institutes of Health funded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cidd\/training-education\/research-training-opportunities\/\">T32 Postdoctoral Research Training Program<\/a> funds postdoctoral fellows for two years to conduct basic and clinical research in the labs of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cidd\/research\/meet-our-researchers\/\">CIDD faculty and IDDRC investigators<\/a>, who serve as mentors for the postdocs\u2019 research. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cidd\/lend\/\">North Carolina Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities<\/a> (LEND) program, funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, offers interdisciplinary leadership training for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows\/residents, self-advocates, and family advocates.\u00a0 As the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cidd\/ucedd\/\">North Carolina University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities<\/a> (UCEDD), funded by the Administration on Disabilities, UCEDD faculty work collaboratively with the LEND program to support interdisciplinary preservice leadership and clinical training and provide continuing education to community providers at the local, state, and national levels.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to offering training through our exemplary clinical services and cutting-edge research, the CIDD offers a range of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cidd\/training-education\/other-education-activities\/\">additional educational opportunities<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Specialized interdisciplinary training in clinical care and research, as well as other educational opportunities, are available to graduate students, predoctoral interns, postdoctoral fellows, and residents, preparing the next generation of professionals dedicated to working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I\/DDs).<\/li>\n<li>Technical assistance and tailored training programs are available for community partners, programs, and providers including continuing education activities.<\/li>\n<li>Our faculty regularly engage in training and educational activities to share information on relevant advocacy, clinical, policy, research, and resource topics with individuals, families, educators, and care providers across North Carolina and beyond.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities (CIDD) is home to three core federal programs, all of which support capacity building in the intellectual and developmental disabilities field through training and education.
