Recently Arlene Chung, MD, MHA, MMCi, Diplomate of Clinical Informatics, and assistant professor of medicine and pediatrics in the UNC School of Medicine, was named one of the most influential women in Health IT by FierceHealthcare. This annual list is compiled with the help of nominations from readers\/industry leaders, and focuses on individuals who have been at the forefront of merging patient care with technology.<\/i><\/p>\n

Why she\u2019s influential:<\/strong>\u00a0Chung works to both increase and enhance the use of technology to improve health care. One such project she helped to lead involved the development of a patient-powered research network for sufferers of inflammatory bowel disease as part of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. The network allows for patients to complete surveys and contribute health data via mobile health apps and devices; patients also are able to view their own data and trends.<\/p>\n
