{"id":2236,"date":"2009-10-14T19:55:41","date_gmt":"2009-10-14T23:55:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/med.sites.unc.edu\/cmep\/cmep\/services\/dss-le-training\/"},"modified":"2020-07-14T10:24:44","modified_gmt":"2020-07-14T14:24:44","slug":"dss-le-training","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cmep\/services\/dss-le-training\/","title":{"rendered":"DSS Training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- portlet_header --><\/p>\n<p><!-- portlet_above --><\/p>\n<p><!-- description --><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Medical Aspects Of Child Abuse And\u00a0 Neglect For Non-Medical Professionals<\/span> is a two day<br \/>\nfoundation\u00a0 curriculum designed to help social workers secure medical examinations in a timely<br \/>\nfashion, understand, interpret, and communicate with medical professionals regarding those<br \/>\nexaminations, and help families understand follow-up care instructions for their children.\u00a0 Medical<br \/>\nAspects was developed by the UNC-CH Child Medical Evaluation Program.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Prerequisite:<\/span>\u00a0 Child Welfare in North Carolina or other pre-service training required based upon<br \/>\ndate of employment and functional responsibilities (For NCDSS Child Welfare Staff).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Contact Hours:<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0 12 contact hours.\u00a0 This training meets the required 18\/39 hours of additional<br \/>\ntraining within the first year or the 24 hour continuing education requirement.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Open to:<\/span>\u00a0 This course is open to child welfare social workers and supervisors employed in a NC<br \/>\nCounty Department of Social Services in the areas of CPS Intake, Assessments, CPS Occasional<br \/>\nOn-Call, CPS In-Home Services, Child Placement including Independent Living (LINKS), Foster<br \/>\nHome Licensing, or Adoptions and individuals or agencies contracting with a County DSS to<br \/>\nprovide any of the above services.\u00a0 (This does not include staff from private foster care\/adoption<br \/>\nagencies or private residential care agencies.)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Recommended for:<\/span>\u00a0 This course is mandatory for all child welfare staff employed in a county DSS<br \/>\nwithin the first year of employment.\u00a0 Therefore, it is recommended for employees with less than<br \/>\none year of child welfare experience.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncswlearn.org\/plp\/registration\/?curriculumkeywords=Medical%20Aspects&amp;curriculumtitlecid=All%20Curriculum%20Titles&amp;servicetypecid=0&amp;curriculumseriescid=All%20Curriculum%20Levels&amp;mintrainingdate=&amp;maxtrainingdate=&amp;city=&amp;countycid=All%20Counties&amp;eventdeliverymethodcid=All%20Methods%20of%20Delivery&amp;sortcolumn=First_Day%20ASC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here for online Registration<\/a> for monthly training at sites throughout the state of NC.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Medical Aspects Of Child Abuse And\u00a0 Neglect For Non-Medical Professionals is a two day foundation\u00a0 curriculum designed to help social workers secure medical examinations in a timely fashion, understand, interpret, and communicate with medical professionals regarding those examinations, and help families understand follow-up care instructions for their children.\u00a0 Medical Aspects was developed by the UNC-CH &hellip;
