Benjamin Vincent, MD: Advancing Cancer Immunotherapy Through Systems Immunology

Dr. Benjamin Vincent is an Associate Professor of Medicine and joint faculty member in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he leads research in systems tumor immunology and immunogenomics.
His lab seeks to understand how the immune system recognizes and responds to cancer—and how these insights can be translated into more effective and potentially curative immunotherapies. By combining large-scale biological data, genomics, and systems-level approaches, his research explores the complex interactions between tumors and the immune system and identifies new opportunities for therapeutic intervention.
Dr. Vincent’s work is part of the broader effort to advance precision cancer immunotherapy, with the goal of understanding why some patients respond to treatment while others do not, and developing strategies that can generate stronger and more lasting anti-tumor immune responses.
His contributions to cancer research and mentorship have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Yang Family Biomedical Scholars Award and the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Faculty Mentor Award from UNC-Chapel Hill.
Through his research, Dr. Vincent is helping bridge fundamental discoveries in immunology and genomics with the development of new strategies to fight cancer.
