SUMMARY:Machine Learning and Precision Analytics Mini-Symposium
DESCRIPTION:Join the UNC Program for Precision Medicine in Health Care (PPMH) for Machine Learning & Precision Analytics\, a free virtual mini-symposium from 1-3pm on Wednesday April 14. Presenters will explore information sources\, data science tools that use the information\, and the application of the resulting findings to health care. Another theme will be sources of bias in machine learning and how that bias can be minimized or eliminated. Participants will engage with presenters and each other around these topics. \n \nData-driven approaches towards linking kinotype with phenotype \nShawn Gomez\, PhD \nProfessor\, Pharmacology and UNC/NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering \n  \nMachine learning for phenotyping in osteoarthritis \nAmanda Nelson\, MD \nAssociate Professor of Medicine\, Division of Rheumatology\, Allergy\, and Immunology \n  \nMachine learning in personalized cancer vaccine design \nAlex Rubinsteyn\, PhD \nAssistant Professor\, Computational Medicine and Lineberger Cancer Center \n  \nClick here to register. Contact precisionmedicine@med.unc.edu for more information.

SUMMARY:Computational Medicine Seminar
DESCRIPTION:Petter Brodin\, MD\, PhD\nAssociate Professor\, Human Systems Immunology\, Director of SciLifeLab Mass cytometry at Karolinska Institute\, Sweden \nTalk Title: “Human Systems Immunology” \n  \nPetter Brodin is a consultant in pediatric immunology combining clinical work at the Karolinska University Hospital\, with leading a research team of 15 members at the Science for Life Laboratory\, the Karolinska Institute. The team develops and applies system immunology approaches to study human immune system variation in health and disease and immune development early in life. The work of the group involves the elucidation of heritable and non-heritable factors that shape human immunity\, immune system development and adaptation early in life as well as a research program in clinical application of systems immunology. To enable these activities the group develops novel experimental and computational methods to more comprehensively and accurately monitoring immune systems in humans.
