SUMMARY:Seminar: New Tools for the Emerging Field of Single-Cell Analysis
DESCRIPTION:As the use of NGS advances in clinical and applied spaces\, the parallelprocessing of single cells from precious patient samples at highthroughputs will be critical. With increasing demand for single-cell NGSanalyses\, several platforms have emerged based on microfluidics\, such as droplet-based and multisample nanodispensing technologies. The ICELL8™ Single-Cell System enables researchers to look at hundreds of cells in a heterogeneous cell population without common microfluidic cell-size constraints\, and the imaging limitations of the droplet-based systems\, thereby reducing sample-handling artifacts. \nSpeaker: John F. Sojda III\, PhD\, with Takara Bio USA\, Inc. \nPlease RSVP to Katherine Berger: kberger@email.unc.edu \nCoffee provided by Department of Genetics

SUMMARY:Embracing Unique Next-Gen Sequencing Technologies
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this free seminar.Lunch provided with RSVP to Katherine T. Berger \nSeminar Summaries: \ngenoTYPER-NEXT \nTraditional screening methods for on/off target effects from genome editing experiments may be time consuming\, ineffective\, and/or expensive. GENEWIZ has developed a method to alleviate all of these pain points\, termed genoTYPER-NEXT. This proprietary method includes interactive data exploration to promote in-depth\, scalable\, clone analysis. \n Metagenomics \nShotgun genome sequencing\, coupled with GENEWIZ’s proprietary bioinformatics pipeline\, allows researchers to visualize and interact with their data for species identification and functional significance. GENEWIZ also offers custom targeted 16S sequencing using their optimized MetaVx™ service and is developing a full length 16S assay for the PacBio Sequel. \n Additional Next-Gen Sequencing Technologies \n\nGENEWIZ has recently released ultra-long read sequencing on the PacBio Sequel for WGS. \nThe 10X Genomics Chromium provides true single-cell RNA-seq library preparation with compatibility for Illumina HiSeq sequencing. \n\n Speaker: \nJessica Oates\, Technical Application Scientist at GENEWIZ in the Next-Generation Sequencing area\, providing project consultation for the HTSF NGS services.
