Kara received her B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Psychology from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and her M.A. in Psychology from Wake Forest University. \u00a0She worked in research labs at both Wake Forest University and Duke University before joining UNC School of Medicine as a Research Specialist in the Histology Research Core Facility in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology (2015-2021). \u00a0 She joined the Office of Research Technologies as Associate Director in 2021.<\/p>\n

As the ORT Associate Director, Kara\u00a0supports the complex ecosystem of more than 50 core labs across campus in the following key areas:\u00a0operations, quality management, allocation of funding for equipment\/method development\/general needs, rate reviews, performance management and communications training, marketing and promotion through website and presentations, and strategic planning to ensure UNC cores have the latest technologies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
