The\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">BSP<\/span>\u00a0also processes and stores additional human biospecimens such as plasma, serum, urine, sputum, and other for non-genetic analytical tests. Additional responsibilities will include researching, and validation of new processing protocols. All activities in this core facility must be performed under the guidelines of a College of American Pathologists (<span class=\"caps\">CAP<\/span>) accredited repository. Under these guidelines this position requires the performance of and documentation of equipment maintenance, writing and reviewing processing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and administrative tasks as necessary. An organized and detail-oriented individual who will need to perform molecular biology and general laboratory techniques to fulfill the requirements of this position. A major component of the work will be processing human biospecimen samples manually or on automated high-throughput pieces of equipment. Specifically, the position will involve extraction of\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">DNA<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">RNA<\/span>\u00a0from biospecimens, quantitation and quality analysis of extracted specimens, aliquoting, and storage of biospecimens. Use of a computer-based specimen inventory and tracking system to detail receipt, processing, aliquoting, storage and distribution of all specimens will be required. The primary purpose of this position is to analyze biological samples for drug and endogenous compound concentrations, primarily by infrared matrix-assisted laser desorption electrospray ionization (IR-<span class=\"caps\">MALDESI<\/span>)\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">MSI<\/span>. These analyses support the grants and contracts of the\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">CPAC<\/span>\u00a0lab, the\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">UNC<\/span>\u00a0Center for\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">AIDS<\/span>\u00a0Research, and the\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">UNC<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">CARE<\/span>\u00a0Collaboratory for Eradication of\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">HIV<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities of this position include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Independently performing timely, accurate and precise sample analysis by IR-<span class=\"caps\">MALDESI<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">MSI<\/span>\u00a0using developed bioanalytical methods of drug or endogenous compound concentrations in animal and human biological matrices.<\/li>\n<li>Performing experimental data reduction and visualization of mass spectrometry imaging output using developed workflows.
