{"id":4598,"date":"2022-03-25T14:48:44","date_gmt":"2022-03-25T18:48:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/corefacilities\/?p=4598"},"modified":"2022-03-25T14:50:32","modified_gmt":"2022-03-25T18:50:32","slug":"summer-session-maker-technologies-for-everyone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/corefacilities\/summer-session-maker-technologies-for-everyone\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Session Maker Technologies for Everyone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have you wished you (or your staff) had more experience in Maker-Space technologies like electronics, 3D-printing, and software programing?<\/p>\n<p>The Applied Physical Sciences department has developed a summer series to help you learn to put these technologies to use in your lab!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Enhance your electronics and design skills AND support your research needs!\u00a0<i>Maker Technologies for Everyone<\/i>\u00a0series offered in SS1!\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The <i>Maker Technologies for Everyone<\/i> curriculum is a series of 0.5- and 1.0-credit courses that provide practical Making skills at a level accessible to all students and faculty.\u00a0 The series is organized so that you can take courses individually as stand-alone content or together as a comprehensive overview of electronics and digital making.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>APPL 112 Practical electronics for everyone (1 credit)<\/b>\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>Design and fabrication for practical electronics circuits, including interfacing with sensors and actuators.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wednesday, May 11 \u2013 Friday, May 20, 9AM &#8211; Noon daily<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Taught by Mr. Collin McKinney and Mr. Matt Verber<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>APPL 113 LabView for Data Acquisition (1 credit)<\/b>\u00a0<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>Learn how your computer can interact with sensors or instruments using LabVIEW graphical programming. This software also makes it easy to develop a professional and sophisticated user interface.
