The core manages seven state-of-the-art mass spectrometry systems for both proteomic and metabolomic services and provides additional capabilities and expertise in sample preparation, data analysis, research design, and consultation.<\/p>\n<p>The Center of Excellence designation was highlighted in a recent Thermo Fisher Mass Spectrometry Symposium, held in October 2025 at UNC Chapel Hill. This symposium highlighted research in the fields of metabolomics and proteomics, held a session for lightning talks on original research, and provided updates on the future of the MAP Core, including new instrument capabilities in the fields of clinical proteomics, targeted and untargeted metabolomics.
