Dear Research Colleagues,

In early 2021, The Institute for Global Health and Infectious Disease Clinical Trials Unit opened an off campus research unit to facilitate COVID-19 treatment and vaccination trials. The ‘Global Clinical Research – North’ is located at 1828 MLK Jr. Blvd. in the Chapel Hill North shopping center just around the corner from Harris Teeter. It has 6 exam rooms, a BSL1 lab (with existing CLIA testing waivers for HIV, COVID-19, and hCG as well as approval by the UNC EHS biosafety division), a small pharmacy with ambient and refrigerated pyxis, locking chart storage and staff drop down space. While the site remains a valuable resource for our team and participants, some of the initial work the space was designed for is winding down and it is not being utilized to full capacity.

At this time, we are reaching out to the UNC Research community to see if there is interest in partnering in the use of this space through 2023. This discussion would be very preliminary as there are many details to sort out with cost sharing, staff redundancy, scheduling, etc. but knowing if there is interest from other departments will help guide our next steps with the clinic space.

If there are interested parties, please reach out to Dr. David Wohl (david_wohl@med.unc.edu) and Erin Hoffman (erin_hoffman@med.unc.edu) with ideas or details about your project and we would be happy to schedule a time to speak further.

Thanks all,

Erin H.
