Survey Request: Enhancing inclusion of Spanish-speaking participants in research
Over the past decade, North Carolina’s Latino/a/x population has grown by 40%, the largest numeric increase of any racial/ethnic group in the state and faster than the growth of this population nationwide (23%). Despite this growth, Latino/a/x and other marginalized ethnic groups are vastly underrepresented in biomedical research. Enhanced representation of Spanish-speaking populations in research studies is one of several systemic changes needed to support health equity for Latino/a/x communities in North Carolina and across the United States. Therefore, including Spanish-speaking populations in research is a priority for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Together the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) and the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences (NC TraCS) Institute at UNC invite you to complete a brief (10-20 minute) anonymous survey. We hope you will share your experiences related to the barriers and opportunities you face for including Spanish-speaking participants in US-based research at UNC. Information gathered will help inform UNC’s research and infrastructural policies and resources to facilitate the participation of Spanish-speaking participants in all types of research.

Please note: You do not have to currently include Spanish speakers in your research to respond to the survey. This survey will remain open through Tuesday January 31st.
