Minton joined the UNC School of Medicine and UNC Health communications team in 2021 and focuses on internal communications for the UNC School of Medicine.
She has more than a decade of experience in higher education and research communications. Minton previously worked for UNC-Chapel Hill University Communications, where she served as a spokesperson and advised executives on communications strategy from 2019 through 2021. She earned the office’s Above & Beyond Award in 2020 for her leadership in pandemic response efforts.
Prior to her time at Carolina, Minton worked at Arizona State University with a focus on aligning communications strategy from the university’s Office of the President and the ASU Knowledge Enterprise and at the University of North Texas where she focused on research communications strategy and issues management.
Before her work in higher education, she was a newspaper reporter in Texas and covered topics including breaking news, business and more. She earned her bachelor’s degree in news-editorial journalism from the University of North Texas Mayborn School of Journalism and is completing a master’s degree at North Carolina State University focused on science policy.
Minton is from West Virginia and enjoys being outside, cooking and visiting science museums.
