Why I chose UNC:
I am from Minnesota and my primary goal in residency was to escape the cold! I came down to interview at UNC and fell in love with the area, the people, and the program. There is a great mix of academic and community emergency medicine which means residents get all the procedures we can handle alongside wonderful opportunities for cutting-edge research in everything from basic science to epidemiology to behavior. I love living in Durham and being able to explore Chapel Hill and Raleigh, as well as the beautiful parks in the surrounding area. The residents and attendings at UNC and WakeMed are simultaneously warm, fun and really smart - I feel so lucky to be part of the program!
