Philosophy on Equity and Inclusion in Resident Education:

The UNC Emergency Medicine Residency Program strives to have an educational conference series with speakers representative of the patients we serve. Moreover, we aim to provide focused education to our residents with regards to specific topics in equity and inclusion. We have utilized both asynchronous and traditional group learning to broaden resident understanding of topics including implicit bias, care needs and disparities affecting black and brown communities, and trans-specific health care in the emergency department. The UNC Emergency Medicine Residency Program will continue to develop educational efforts in the equity and inclusion space to meet the constantly evolving needs of our local, national, and global communities.
