About the Tintinalli-UNC Emergency Medicine Prize

This inaugural prize celebrates original and substantive contributions to the field of Emergency Medicine. It honors those whose leadership, scholarship, service, and advocacy advance our specialty in creative, meaningful, and lasting ways as did Dr. Tintinalli over three decades.

At the celebration Dr. Tintinalli received recognition from numerous leaders in Emergency Medicine, as well as a check for $5,000. She graciously plans to donate the check to the Judith Tintinalli EM Fund, which marks the start of a professorship endowment for our department. This will allow our department to continue to grow in areas of clinical, educational and research excellence.

Dr. Tintinalli announced her retirement from UNC in 2021, but she continues to play a pivotal role in helping to guide, foster, and facilitate many aspects of the field of Emergency Medicine.
