Diane Berry, PhD, ANP-BC was appointed Chair of the Diversity Section of The Obesity Society.

The overall goal of the Diversity Section is to represent the interests of individuals of diverse backgrounds (including but not limited to: race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity) at all levels of The Obesity Society - from Council to representation at the annual meeting.

The goals of the Diversity Section are three-fold : (1) To increase the visibility of Diversity Section activities through the Society's communication tools; including but not limited to: the website, e-blasts, and member newsletters; (2) To develop a comprehensive Section program for the annual meeting including development of symposiums, a research poster tour, and awards for research targeting diverse populations; and (3) To foster a mentoring program to increase diversity in leadership roles in The Obesity Society.
