The Children\u2019s Emergency Department at WakeMed sees over 40,000 pediatric patients\/year with largely undifferentiated pathology. Faculty trained in both emergency medicine and pediatric emergency medicine staff the WakeMed Health &amp; Hospitals Pediatric Emergency Department and serve as dedicated teaching faculty. The\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wakemed.org\/care-and-services\/childrens-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WakeMed Children\u2019s Hospital<\/a>\u00a0enjoys an excellent relationship with UNC and Duke subspecialists in addition to having multiple subspecialists in pediatrics of their own on their primary campus. In addition to their time at WakeMed, fellows also rotate in specialty pediatric services (i.e.\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/pediatrics\/pccm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PICU<\/a>) at UNC Hospital and have the opportunity to do a toxicology rotation at\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/atriumhealth.org\/medical-services\/specialty-care\/other-specialty-care-services\/poison-center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carolinas Poison Control Center<\/a>\u00a0in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to the rotations below, the fellowship enjoys an enriching didactic program including a monthly disciplinary simulation exercise in a state-of-the-art high fidelity simulation center.
