{"id":2889,"date":"2016-05-11T17:25:00","date_gmt":"2016-05-11T21:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/emergmed\/education\/medical-students\/application-phase-students\/"},"modified":"2024-03-18T13:32:44","modified_gmt":"2024-03-18T17:32:44","slug":"application-phase-students","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/emergmed\/education\/medical-students\/application-phase-students\/","title":{"rendered":"App Phase CBLC ED Shifts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Note: this course is for UNC SOM students only. <strong>This does not apply to students at the Asheville AHEC site.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>During Application Phase CBLC, you will be required to complete 5 ED shifts during your rotation.<\/p>\n<p>We have three simple learning objectives during your brief time in the ED. <\/p>\n<p>Regardless of your future choice of specialty, we hope that you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gain insight into how the ED functions and interacts with the healthcare system<\/li>\n<li>Develop a sense of what emergency medicine physicians can do for your future patients<\/li>\n<li>Take advantage of this opportunity to evaluate and help manage undifferentiated patients<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note that we have made changes to the shift card from prior years to reflect these objectives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements for ALL students:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Watch the <strong>ED Module<\/strong> on Canvas <u>before<\/u> your first ED shift.<\/li>\n<li>Read the Course Manual on Canvas and <strong><u>print the ED shift card on the last page and carry it with you every shift<\/u><\/strong>.
