These signs include accentuation of the nasolabial fold (aka smile lines, laugh lines), jowling, temporal hollowing, hollowing of the orbit, lowering of the cheek fat pad, and tear trough deformity in the region below the eyes. Dermal fillers such as hyaluronic acid, collagen, and calcium hydroxyapatite can restore volume to the face, and help patients achieve a more youthful appearance. Surgeons can also harvest fat from patients using liposuction techniques, and inject it into the face to restore volume using their own tissue.

Facial Fillers for Paralysis:

Patients with facial paralysis frequently have asymmetric volume loss and soft tissue redistribution. This asymmetric aging is due to changes in muscle tone and soft tissue volume associated with facial paralysis. Dr. Miller is an expert at using facial fillers—both dermal fillers such as Juvederm® and autologous fat—to improve facial symmetry. He customizes treatment so that patients attain a more youthful, but still natural appearance. Dr. Miller also uses filler in facial paralysis patients’ lips to improve their ability to eat, drink, and talk.

If you would like to schedule a consultation to discuss fillers for facial paralysis, please call 984-974-2255 to schedule.

What are dermal fillers?
