Otolaryngology combines compassionate patient care with technical surgical intervention during some of life’s most vulnerable moments. It is a specialty that offers a breadth of procedures that restore the functions people rely on every day. Theresa A. Saunders, MD is so grateful to have witnessed the gift of caring for patients across all stages of life while continuing to advance the field through innovative research. Dr. Saunders chose ENT because of the relationships she hopes to intentionally build with her patients, and the opportunities it brings to advocate for those most in need.

As a North Carolina native, the ability to take care of North Carolinians and all those who step through the doors of UNC Hospitals is one of my greatest honors. UNC Hospitals is a health system that is built on the foundation of providing empathetic, patient-centered care. UNC's Department of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery takes this mission to the next level by surgically treating complex pathology with humanism and compassion. The residents of the program are living examples of this through their dedication to education, clinical excellence, and genuine investment in one another's growth.
