About

Otolaryngology holds a special place in William AJ Meadows’s heart for the profound, life-changing impact he has seen ENTs make. Close family members of his have experienced firsthand how transformative otolaryngologic care can be, sparking his initial interest in the field. As he explored further, he was drawn to the breadth of the patient population, the complexity of the pathology and anatomy, and the opportunity to build meaningful, lasting relationships with patients.

Why UNC: During my away rotation at UNC, I immediately felt at home. From day one, residents and attendings welcomed me as part of the team, eager to both teach and get to know me. The program’s commitment to resident education, innovation, and a supportive learning environment stood out. Choosing UNC for my otolaryngology residency feels like coming full circle—my wife attended UNC for undergrad, and her family still calls the area home, making Chapel Hill feel like home to me as well. I’m incredibly grateful and excited to be joining a place that means so much to me both personally and professionally.
