At the University of North Carolina Department of Otolaryngology\/Head & Neck Surgery, we are dedicated to helping patients and their caregivers with cancer treatment, recovery and survivorship.\u00a0\u00a0In addition to providing medical care, we also recognize the importance of offering our patients emotional and social support.<\/p>\n

Coping with head and neck cancer can be difficult not only for you but for your family\/caregivers.\u00a0\u00a0Our Head & Neck Cancer Support Program offers a variety of programs and services that can help you both during and after your treatment.<\/p>\n

Our Comprehensive Cancer Support Program under the direction of Dr. Don Rosenstein offers a Patient and Family Resource Center, Wellness programs focusing on Exercise and Nutrition, a Survivorship Program, Counseling and Mental Health Services, Integrative Medicine including acupuncture, and Supportive Care including lymphedema therapy and pain and symptom management.\u00a0 All of this is aimed at helping our patients by providing support during and after treatment as they transition from active treatment to surveillance.\u00a0 The Symptom Management Clinic, assists with follow-up of medications (i.e., anti-depressant, anti-anxiety) and emotional\/mental health issues, as well as the whole range of side effects folks deal with related to surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.\u00a0 We also offer a Nicotine Dependence Program to help people kick the tobacco habit, run by Ms. Susan Trout.<\/p>\n
