DESCRIPTION:The Academy of Educators invites interested faculty to save the date and register for the upcoming Faculty Development workshop with Christina Shenvi\, MD\, PhD\, FACEP on November 7th from 12:00 – 1:00PM in Bondurant 2020. \nParticipants will learn how to:\n-Design effective powerpoint presentations using cognitive load theory as a guiding principle\n-Create a powerful beginning and ending to their presentation\n-Use resets or pauses in their lectures to regain and retain audience interest and participation\n-Tune their message to the audiences “WIIFM” wavelength\n-Understand how to design\, practice\, and deliver powerful\, memorable\, and effective presentations \nLight refreshments will be provided.  Please RSVP here by Friday\, November 2nd to join us in person or online. SUMMARY:New Faculty Orientation
DESCRIPTION:The Office of Faculty Affairs & Leadership Development invites you to our annual New Faculty Orientation on October 11th from 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM.  Registration begins at 7:30 AM.  Please complete this form to submit your RSVP by October 1\, 2018.  All faculty with a start date of October 30\, 2017 and those who did not attend last year’s session are highly encouraged to attend. \nThe goal of the orientation is to provide new faculty with an overview of the institution and to help launch a successful career at the UNC School of Medicine. The half-day orientation covers topics essential to all new faculty\, and it features the opportunity to meet with other faculty and leaders from across the School of Medicine and Health Care System. \nPlease note that this is different than the Office of Human Resources orientation as our session does not cover new hire paperwork\, benefits\, etc. Instead\, our aim is to connect you with key resources and points of contact. \nPlease contact Morgan Resnick-Kahle at morgan_resnick-kahle@med.unc.edu with any questions or concerns.
