About ELAM and ELH<\/h2>\n

The <\/span>Hedwig van Ameringen<\/span><\/i> Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine<\/span><\/b>\u00ae (ELAM) program, established in 1995, is a prestigious national leadership fellowship which aims to prepare individuals for senior leadership roles in schools of medicine, public health, dentistry, and pharmacy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Founded in 2022, the <\/span>Executive Leadership in Health Care<\/span><\/b> (ELH) track is designed for senior-level leaders interested in advancing in hospitals and health care systems.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Program Curriculum and Experience<\/h2>\n

The program is an intensive, one-year leadership development program with extensive opportunities for coaching, networking, mentoring, and training.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The program curriculum centers around four essential dimensions of leadership:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Strategic finance and resource management<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Personal and professional leadership effectiveness<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Organizational dynamics<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Communities of leadership practice<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Fellows convene throughout the year for three, week-long, in-residence sessions. In addition to the in-person sessions, fellows must participate in online sessions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The institutional action project (IAP) provides each fellow an opportunity to expand their leadership skills and institutional visibility through an initiative that meets an organizational goal or need.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Nomination Process<\/h2>\n

    Acceptance into each program is determined through a competitive selection process. UNC may submit up to two nominations for each program each year.<\/p>\n

    The nomination process is coordinated by the Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development (FLAD) in partnership with the Dean\/CEO.<\/p>\n

    To nominate a participant a Dean\/CEO must commit to developing a plan of action for each participant\u2019s career that will lead to potential formal or informal leadership roles.<\/p>\n
