Academic medicine, and the country as a whole, is at a critical inflection point where massive change is needed. As we bolster our efforts to address the dual public health crises of COVID-19 and systemic racism, we must pay close attention to the role of intersectionality and acknowledge the limited visibility thus far of African American\/Black women and all women of color regarding these issues. During this first part of a webinar series on various aspects of women of color, we will explore foundational elements of intersectionality theory, share experiences from members of our community, and create dialogue on how institutions can maintain an intersectional lens as they continue their diversity, equity and inclusion journeys. This webinar kicks off a new collaboration on Women of Color between the Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS), the Group on Diversity and Inclusion (GDI) and other AAMC affinity groups.<\/p>\n
