Doing research is challenging. Good research starts with good research questions. Those questions need to be precise to ensure that you get the answers that you were intending to get. William (Bill) Miller, MD, PhD, MPH is Professor, Department of Epidemiology, Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Bill is an infectious diseases epidemiologist and was also trained as an infectious diseases physician. His own research focuses on HIV, sexually transmitted infections, and substance use. He is the editor-in-chief for the journal Sexually Transmitted Diseases<\/em> and has served as associate editor for Epidemiology <\/em>and Sexually Transmitted Infections.<\/em> He serves on the boards for ISSTDR and ASTDA and is the past president of the Society for Epidemiologic Research. Bill has been teaching people how to do research for 25 years.<\/p>\n
