Improving health care is the ultimate goal of all medical education \u2013 UME, GME, and CME\/CPD. Yet, our current health care delivery model continues to fall show in achieving optimal outcomes of patients. We will discuss the impact of imprinting in medical education, and posit why few educational programs are able to successfully deliver on improving patient outcomes. Traditionally, educational outcomes have centered around learners and clinical outcomes have centered around patients. Explicitly recognizing the role of the clinical microsystem on learning, and creating greater alignment between the clinical and educational contexts may improve both learning and patient outcomes.<\/p>\n

She served as the principal investigator on the AMA\u2019s Accelerating Change in Medical Education initiative. Dr. Baxley previously served as\u00a0 Senior Associate Dean at the Brody School of Medicine, Chair of Family Medicine at USC and Co-Director of the I3 Collaborative.
