Assistant Professor

Biographical Information

Dr. Smith grew up in Raleigh, NC. He went to college at Northwestern University and attended The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Colorado, where he served as Chief Resident. He has worked as faculty at the University of Colorado and at Denver Health, a large safety-net institution. He is excited to return home to North Carolina as an Assistant Professor with UNC Family Medicine. Outside of work, he enjoys running, biking, backpacking, and spending time with his family.

Areas of Interest

Dr. Smith enjoys providing comprehensive primary care to diverse patient populations. He is particularly passionate about LGBTQ+ care, addiction medicine, maternal and child health, and healthcare for the underserved.
