Preventive Medicine Resident

Sara Helvey, MD, MBA graduated from Kansas University School of Medicine in 2007. She then completed her intern year in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent’s and Mount Sinai hospital in New York, NY. After residency she went on to a career in healthcare informatics where she has been heavily involved in electronic medical record adoption and optimization. She demonstrated operational, leadership, and change management expertise for dozens of healthcare organizations across the country. In her most recent position, she established a care management section for a health plan and developed and implemented a telemedicine platform for risk adjustment during the Covid-19 pandemic. She will pursue a Masters of Public Health at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public health and her interests include maternal/child health, healthcare informatics, employee health, and preventive medicine as it relates to nutrition and lifestyle.
