4th Annual Steadman Hawkins Hosted in Greenville, SC - Sports Medicine Conference
We had another great turnout from sports medicine providers from the area and South Carolina for the two day symposium. Former graduates were able to come in for the annual event. The event included sessions covering MSK US and anatomy for the fellows and residents. The fellows also presented cases for discussion. Main topics of this year's symposium were evaluation of low back pain, shoulder and elbow rehab and bracing in athletes. Next year's event will be held in Chapel Hill. This event is growing in size every year.

UNC provides nedical coverage for Northwood Hugh holiday wrestling tournament
Darkina Ward is already making a big difference in our community outreach program. She coordinated coverage for the event during the Christmas Holidays. It was a great success.

Community Outreach
Thanks to everyone who participated in our annual holiday community project. We were able to sponsor two community events over the past two quarters. We adopted a kindergarten class at Eastway Elementary School. We were able to buy needed school supplies for children during the first quarter of the academic year.
Our second quater project was a great success as we adopted a family for the holidays. We were able to supply beds and gifts so that a family could have a wonderful holiday season. Thanks to everyone that participated.

AMSSM Annual Meeting

The UNC Sports Medicine faculty and fellows attended the 2014 AMSSM conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana.  This year's theme "Keep the Good Times Rolling, Staying Healthfully Fit." The purpose of the conference was to provide a valuable source of current "cutting edge" medical knowledge to professionals actively engaged in treating athletic patients. UNC was very active during the week with community service projects, podium presentations from the faculty and fellows.
