SUMMARY:NC-TAC Webinar: The Neuroscience of Substance Use Disorders
DESCRIPTION:Substance use disorders are influenced by many factors\, including the individual neurology of a person’s brain\, individual behaviors\, complex environmental influences\, and experiences in one’s family and community\, developing over years. In this session\, we will discuss how factors such as trauma and resilience supports can have a bidirectional relationship with brain chemistry\, human behavior\, and social drivers of health like access to employment and housing. We will review how medications for addiction treatment are particularly effective at improving outcomes due to direct intervention into these complex neurological pathways.
