I\u2019m a Tennessean born and raised, originally from the (once) small town of Franklin, just south of Nashville. I completed my bachelors degree at the University of Tennessee \u2013 Chattanooga, home of the Krystal slider burger. I continued hiking east, studying medicine at East Tennessee State University in the heart of Appalachia. Family docs are the lifeblood of that region, and I found the best residency training available just down the road at UNC.<\/p>\n
My idea of a family physician mandates self-sufficiency, with the collaboration of interprofessional teams. Medicine is only one part of a patient\u2019s health; the pharmacists, social workers, nutritionists, and community collaborators are integral to providing the most excellent care, and UNC demonstrates that in spades. I knew UNC was right for me after completing my Acting Internship as a 4th<\/sup>\u00a0year medical student. The residents are supportive, genuine, and most of all, passionate about their patients and family medicine. It is inspiring to work with faculty and residents who are constantly striving to improve patient care.<\/p>\n Outside of work, I am most likely exploring Durham with my dog Solas. I\u2019m a unashamed foodie and brewery crawler, all the better if my dog can tag along. I do a fair amount of cooking myself, especially from our local farmers and bakers in the Triangle.
