FQHC Track Resident: Siler City<\/p>\n
Hi, everyone! My name is Brandon Garcia. I was born in Fort Worth, Texas but moved to North Carolina at a young age. I attended UNC Chapel Hill for undergraduate where I studied Biology. After undergrad, I had the opportunity to participate in the MedServe program where I worked as a medical scribe and health informatics specialist at Piedmont Health. My time with PHS opened my eyes to the world of primary care, specifically Family Medicine. I went to ECU Brody School of Medicine and my interest in Family Medicine took off. I was the co-director of our student-led clinic at the health department, which allowed me to gain experience in taking care of the underserved. I also had the privilege of being part of the Brody Scholars program which allowed me to participate in community service projects, along with additional academic activities. More than anything, I enjoyed my experiences in medical school because I was able to not only treat people in the community but also feel part of the community.<\/p>\n
Community was very important to me while choosing a residency. Not only the community aspect between residents and faculty but also between physicians and patients. I wanted to attend a residency that allowed me to be a part of the community I was serving. That is exactly what I got with UNC, especially with the FQHC track. I was also interested in participating in the FQHC track and returning back to where my love for primary care started. I am interested in underserved care and farmworker care.<\/p>\n
In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my wife. We are big pickleball fans so you will most likely find me on a pickleball court somewhere. I also enjoy watching soccer (Visca Barca), football (How ‘Bout Them Cowboys), and movies, as well as spending time with our puppy Canelo, traveling, and attending church.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
