Upon completion of her medical degree, she completed her intern year and subsequent senior house officer years at the Public Health Authority (Princess Margaret Hospital and Rand Memorial Hospital) in The Bahamas. While working at these sites, she experienced first-hand how chronic non-communicable diseases contributed to issues of morbidity and mortality within the nation. She completed her internal medicine residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in New York City where she saw the healthcare system challenges in serving this population and the valiant efforts put forth to eradicate them by the dedicated staff and faculty there. Currently, she is a Preventive Medicine Resident at the University of North Carolina. Her past experiences allowed her to see the importance of preventive medicine in the populations she has served.
