FQHC TRACK RESIDENT: SILER CITY<\/p>\n
Hey y’all! My name is Megan Leonard.\u00a0I grew up all over the Carolinas\u2014living in both small towns and big cities\u2014which gave me an early appreciation for how deeply connected healthcare is to the communities we serve. I went to Wofford College for undergrad (Go Terriers!) and stayed in the Upstate of South Carolina for medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville.<\/p>\n
My interest in Family Medicine was sparked during a summer working as both a CNA at a free clinic and a medical scribe in an emergency department. That experience highlighted the stark differences in health outcomes between patients with access to primary care and those without, and it solidified my desire to help bridge those gaps.<\/p>\n
In medical school, I discovered my passion for FQHC work, medical student advocacy, and hospital medicine. I also have a lifelong love of Spanish language learning and feel grateful for the robust opportunities here at UNC to care for the Spanish-speaking patients of our community.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m over the moon to continue my training at UNC on the FQHC Track in Siler City! It\u2019s such an honor to be a part of a program filled with kind, community-minded individuals who care deeply about the mission of serving the residents of North Carolina.<\/p>\n
When I\u2019m not at work, you\u2019ll likely find me playing tennis, going for a walk, reading a good book, doing yoga or taking a quick trip to the beach!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
