{"id":14979,"date":"2022-05-06T11:30:45","date_gmt":"2022-05-06T15:30:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/fammed\/?page_id=14979"},"modified":"2022-05-06T11:31:17","modified_gmt":"2022-05-06T15:31:17","slug":"coverage","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/fammed\/education\/fellows\/sports-medicine-fellowship\/about\/coverage\/","title":{"rendered":"Coverage and Training Room"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With exceptional access to the highly successful, broad-based athletics program of the University of North Carolina Tar Heels (winners of 47 NCAA Division I team championships and counting!) as the cornerstone, our fellows have wide-ranging opportunities to build experience and skills in event coverage.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/goheels.com\/sports\/football\">UNC Football<\/a> \u2013 Fellows actively participate in pre-game, in-game, post-game and training room activities,<br \/>\nwork<a style=\"color: #2a6496\" href=\"https:\/\/goheels.com\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-15547 size-medium\" style=\"color: #333333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/fammed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/454\/2022\/05\/Coverage-and-Training-Room-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/fammed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/454\/2022\/05\/Coverage-and-Training-Room-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/fammed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/454\/2022\/05\/Coverage-and-Training-Room-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/fammed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/454\/2022\/05\/Coverage-and-Training-Room-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/fammed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/454\/2022\/05\/Coverage-and-Training-Room-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/fammed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/454\/2022\/05\/Coverage-and-Training-Room-280x210.jpg 280w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/fammed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/454\/2022\/05\/Coverage-and-Training-Room-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/fammed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/454\/2022\/05\/Coverage-and-Training-Room.jpg 2016w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>ing hands-on with student-athletes under the direction of the Team Physician<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/goheels.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\">UNC Men\u2019s Basketball<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/goheels.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\">UNC Women\u2019s Basketball<\/a> \u2013 Fellows provide coverage for home games and work with student athletes as directed by the Team Physician<\/li>\n<li>High School Football \u2013 Fellows will each serve as Team Physician for a high school football team from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chccs.org\/\">Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chatham.k12.nc.us\/\">Chatham County Schools<\/a>, covering home and away games throughout the fall and following up on injuries through the Saturday morning injury clinic<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/goheels.com\/\">UNC Olympic Sports<\/a> \u2013 With opportunities to be involved in coverage and student athlete care across Soccer, Lacrosse, Volleyball, Field Hockey, Wrestling, Gymnastics, Track and Field, Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Swimming and Diving, Cross Country, Fencing, Golf and Rowing, fellows can tailor experiences to their interests (involvement with university <a href=\"https:\/\/campusrec.unc.edu\/programs\/sport-clubs\/\">sport clubs<\/a> is also available)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/theacc.com\/\">ACC<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncaa.org\/\">NCAA<\/a> Championships \u2013 UNC\u2019s combination of elite athletics, beautiful facilities and extraordinary sports administration makes Carolina a frequent host for ACC and NCAA Championship events which our fellows assist in covering<\/li>\n<li>Professional and National Teams \u2013 Sports Medicine Physicians at <a href=\"https:\/\/cfpsm.com\/\">Carolina Family Practice and Sports Medicine<\/a> work with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/hurricanes\">Carolina Hurricanes<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usabaseball.com\/\">USA Baseball<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northcarolinafc.com\/\">North Carolina Football Club<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nccourage.com\/\">North Carolina Courage<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carolinaballet.com\/\">Carolina Ballet<\/a>, and through this connection our fellows often coordinate event coverage experiences<\/li>\n<li>Special Olympics \u2013 The UNC Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program has proudly provided event coverage for the <a href=\"https:\/\/sonc.net\/\">Special Olympics of North Carolina<\/a> for over a decade<\/li>\n<li>And More!
