Our application process is composed of three portions: Application to our program through ERAS, application to the Office of Graduate Medical Education, and application to the MPH Program of your choice through SOPHAS (unless you have already completed an MPH). All portions must be completed in order to consider your candidacy.<\/p>\n

  1. Apply through\u00a0ERAS<\/a>\n
      \n
    1. Include a 2-page personal statement describing your specific interests in preventive medicine and your goals for this training.<\/li>\n
    2. Attach\u00a0a current curriculum vitae, including a list of honors, publications, and summary of prior work.<\/li>\n
    3. Through ERAS, please include 3 letters of recommendation, including one from the\u00a0program director of your clinical residency program. The other two should be from medical staff of your residency training institution. \u00a0Please make sure all letters are from your\u00a0most recent<\/u>\u00a0ACGME accredited residency program or fellowship.<\/li>\n
    4. Include your state medical license information.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    5. Apply through the\u00a0Office of Graduate Medical Education.<\/a>\u00a0 Please be aware that this application is deeply detailed.\u00a0 All “N\/A” boxes much be checked, and all questions must be answered prior to final submission in order for your application to be valid.\u00a0 You may send a draft of the form to Amanda Harvey (details below) for editing.<\/li>\n
    6. Apply online to the UNC Graduate School at\u00a0http:\/\/gradschool.unc.edu<\/a>\u00a0for application to the desired department\/program in the School of Public Health. You must apply separately to the SPH. Acceptance in the residency program is contingent upon being accepted into an MPH program in the School of Public Health. \u00a0Deadlines for SPH applications vary by department and are different than the deadline for your Preventive Medicine application. \u00a0Please make sure you are aware of all deadlines in your desired program.<\/li>\n
    7. Please complete the\u00a0additional application form<\/a>.<\/li>\n
    8. Also, provide an original official medical school transcript directly from the school. \u00a0Scans, emails, and ERAS transcripts are not sufficient substitutes.<\/li>\n
    9. In addition to this form, please submit copies of: 1) your medical license; 2) your residency certificate; 3) MPH transcript if applicable.

      The application deadline is November 1.\u00a0All applications are reviewed by the residency program faculty. \u00a0Interviews will begin in mid-October and applicants who submit applications\u00a0prior to the deadline may receive earlier interviews. \u00a0The interview season will end in January prior to the Standardized Acceptance Process date.<\/p>\n

      Eligible applicants must:<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or have a valid J-1 visa;<\/li>\n
      2. have completed medical training in an accredited medical school;<\/li>\n
      3. have completed at least one year in an ACGME-accredited clinical residency program;<\/li>\n
      4. have a current certificate from the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, if applicable; and<\/li>\n
      5. have a valid medical license in the United States.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
